In the Vedic ashrama system, the later years (Vanaprastha and Sanyasa) are not a decline but a sacred transition — from worldly achievement to wisdom, from doing to being. This is the time for deep inner work, spiritual practice and sharing accumulated wisdom with the world.

Is yoga safe for seniors with osteoporosis?
Yes, with modifications. Weight-bearing standing poses build bone density. Twists and forward bends are modified. Chair yoga is available for those with severe osteoporosis. We always assess before prescribing.
What about seniors with heart conditions?
Many yoga and pranayama practices are heart-safe and even therapeutic for heart conditions. We coordinate with your cardiologist and prescribe gentle, restorative practices that are specifically beneficial for heart health.
At what age is it too late to start?
It is never too late. We have students who began yoga and Ayurvedic practices in their 80s with profound results. The body and mind respond to intelligent care at any age.
